**Salary:** USD 68,000–92,000

**Workplace:** hybrid

**Department:** Tech / Engineering

## Description

Zipliens is looking for a Business Analyst to join our team, building the next generation of applications for the legal industry. After several years of high growth, Zipliens has become a leader in lien resolution, a process required in most personal injury settlements. The software we build supports the lien resolution work we perform on behalf of law firms, helping them operate more efficiently while ultimately enabling the injured parties they service to access settlement funds more quickly and completely—giving our work a clear, real-world impact beyond the technical challenges.

We're hiring a Business Analyst to help shape and define the next generation of tools powering our lien resolution work — including products focused on rapid case evaluation, streamlined staff workflows, comprehensive case tracking, and negotiation. You'll partner closely with our Product Owner, customers, and internal users to surface detailed requirements, identify gaps before they reach development, and document them clearly enough to drive confident decisions. As part of a small product team, you'll also help refine our discovery and requirements practices and bring a strong analytical mindset across the product lifecycle.

## Requirements

**Responsibilities**

- Partner with the Product Owner to translate business value into actionable requirements in an Agile environment through product discovery/domain knowledge, customer interviews, and an understanding of strategic business goals
- Prepare materials for discovery sessions — background research, question guides, relevant context.
- Conduct follow-up interviews and working sessions with customers and internal users to surface detailed requirements.
- Review notes and artifacts from stakeholder conversations and working sessions, identifying gaps, ambiguities, and open questions.
- Develop a working understanding of how product changes affect adjacent business areas — operations, customer success, integrations — and surface those impacts during discovery.
- Document requirements clearly and thoroughly — user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and edge cases.
- Maintain a centralized current view of requirements across active initiatives.
- Flag conflicts or inconsistencies in requirements early, before they become build problems.
- Identify potential approaches or solutions to recurring problems, framed clearly enough for the Product Owner to evaluate and decide.
- Partner with engineering and QA through build to clarify requirements, answer questions, and validate that what ships matches intent.

**Qualifications**

- 3+ years in a business analyst, product owner or similar role in a software development environment; hands-on experience supporting product teams through discovery and delivery
- Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum concepts, backlog management, and writing effective user stories from a customer-focused perspective
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to ask incisive questions and translate conversations into clear, well-structured requirements
- Analytical mindset and detail-oriented approach, with a track record of identifying gaps, ambiguities, and edge cases — and proposing potential solutions for product decision-makers to evaluate
- Working understanding of how software products fit within broader business operations, with the ability to identify cross-functional impacts and dependencies
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities, where not every detail is defined upfront
- Direct experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar product and collaboration tooling
- Demonstrated ability to build trust with customers and internal stakeholders through thoughtful, attentive communication

## Benefits

- Private Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Company HSA contributions for HDHP participants
- Flexible Spending Accounts (Health & Dependent Care)
- Company-Paid Short-Term Disability Coverage
- Voluntary Long-Term Disability, Life, AD&D, and Supplemental Coverage Options
- 401(k) Plan with Company Match
- Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick Time & Select Holidays)
- Paid Parental Leave

**Pay Disclosure:** The total base salary range for this role is $68,000 - $92,000 annually, with opportunity for a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be determined based on skills and experience.

**Work Authorization:** Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored visa support now or in the future.
